FREE THE SPIRIT OF HALLOWEEN

This year’s Hallowtides Festival runs from Monday 26 October to Sunday 1 November and boasts almost 20 FREE events for the whole family to get excited about this Halloween.

FREE Hallowtides warm up events in Newcastle include the Ghosts and Ghouls Window Trail, Creepy Colouring In and Boo-Castle Town Treasure Hunt, each guaranteed to kindle the spirit of Halloween ahead of the big day.

On Friday 30 October Newcastle’s preparations for the most mystical night of the year continue with a FREE Halloween Lantern Workshop where children can make their very own magical work of 'light' to showcase during the parade on Halloween night. For those who dare to be scared, the 'one off' showing of the Stanley Kubrick horror classic, The Shining, is another FREE event not to be missed.

The FREE Scary Shenanigans kick off at 3pm on Saturday 31 October at Central Promenade with entertainment from Pete Snodden, The Booze Bros, animated Scary Stilt Characters and not forgetting our ever popular Freaky Fancy Dress Competition. Registration for the competition will take place in the Newcastle Centre from 4pm, and will give those who truly enter into the spirit of Halloween a chance to win part of a fabulous £1000 prize fund. So which category will you enter - Most Magical, Most Original or Most Amusing?

Fancy dress entrants will join the Parade of Light as it makes it way along Central Promenade to the Festival Stage, where the uber talented Junior Glees Musical Society will provide a ‘Thriller’ of a performance.

The crowning glory of this magical event will be the Fangtastic Fireworks which will light up the skies above Central Promenade from 6.00pm. Get there early to avoid disappointment.

FREE events continue on Sunday 1 November with Doctor Fun's Monster Mash Music and Mayhem, Spooky Stories and Chilling Tales by Lexy Higgins and back by popular demand, the Big Telly Magic Show by Paul Gomac.
